LEXINGTON, Ohio – Leonardo Serravalle displayed resilience and impressive race pace this past weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as the USF Juniors Presented by Continental Tire competed alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Competing with Zanella Racing, the Canadian faced adversity throughout both races but consistently demonstrated the speed to fight his way forward despite setbacks beyond his control.

Race One began with Serravalle serving a three-place grid penalty carried over from the previous event. His race became even more challenging on the opening lap when an incident resulted in an unfortunate 30-second time penalty after the car ahead braked earlier than anticipated, leading to slight contact.

Despite the damage sustained in the incident, including the loss of both front wing endplates and a broken rear roll bar, Serravalle refused to give in. He battled the remainder of the race with a compromised car and crossed the finish line in the 12th position.

The challenges continued into Race Two, where the remaining penalty forced Serravalle to start from pit lane. Without the opportunity to properly warm his tires on the pace lap, he joined the race several seconds behind the field in 20th place. What followed was one of the standout drives of the weekend. Methodically carving through the field, Serravalle climbed an incredible 13 positions to finish seventh on the road before a late-race caution brought the event to an early conclusion under safety car conditions.

Following the race, officials assessed a five-second penalty for an alleged jump start during an earlier yellow flag period, dropping him to 12th in the results. While the official finishing position did not reflect his on-track performance, Serravalle's pace and determination were evident throughout the race.

"Mid-Ohio was definitely one of those weekends that tested us from start to finish,” explained the Canadian. “We seemed to face a new challenge every time we went on track, but I'm proud of how the team and I kept fighting. In Race Two especially, we showed what we're capable of by driving from the back of the field all the way to seventh on track. While the final results weren't what we deserved, there are a lot of positives to take away, and I know we have the pace to fight near the front heading into Lime Rock."

Serravalle will have little time to regroup as the USF Juniors Championship heads to Lime Rock Park this weekend for the penultimate round of the 2026 season.

With the speed displayed at Mid-Ohio despite difficult circumstances, Serravalle and Zanella Racing head to Lime Rock Park determined to convert their pace into the results they know are possible. The race weekend will begin Friday with practice and qualifying before a doubleheader race day on Saturday.
